Thank you for giving up your free time to help connect with the talented and creative students in the state of Illinois! They are excited for this opportunity, but more than anything, they have NO IDEA where to begin or which school to commit to. That’s where ArtConnectED comes in! We will do our best to market your schools and be the bridge that connects you to these amazing students.

Mini Portfolio Week - Student Focused

April 7th - April 9th, 2021 (CT)

Kids are zoomed out (as we all know), so try to have some

fun or art-making sessions in there too!

  1. IDEAS FOR EXTRA SESSIONS:

    1. Make students pre-register for your session so you know your potential attendance/can obtain emails

  2. EXAMPLES OF TYPES OF SESSIONS:

    1. Host one-on-ones (3- 10 min sessions per time slot, or 1 - 30 min time slot)

    2. Have (pre-recorded) sessions with professors

    3. Have (pre-recorded) sessions with alumni

    4. Have (pre-recorded) sessions with current students

    5. Parent-Focused sessions

    6. Teacher-Focused sessions

    7. Do more portfolio reviews

    8. Open Zoom - kids can pop on with any questions

    9. Informative "art school" sessions (i.e. Portfolio 101, What does the 1st year of Art School look like, etc)

Mini Portfolio Day: Teacher Edition

Saturday, April 10th, 2021 (CT)

We are looking for sessions for teacher that highlight your summer programs, amazing professors, or alumni.

The 5 categories we are looking to fill are:

  1. Drawing/Painting

  2. Photography

  3. Digital Art

  4. 3-D

  5. Creativity/Relaxation/Other

Spring Mini Portfolio Day Teacher Editio

2. COLLEGE REP HOMEWORK - 5 tASKS

  • Set up a Calendly for Portfolio Review (or whatever you use) for one of the following options:

    • Wednesday, April 7th-April 9th (after 5pm) and add it to the Mini Portfolio Week calendar of events

    • Sunday, April 11th for portfolio reviews for the day of the virtual IHSAE/ArtConnectED show​​

    • For all event days: April 7th, 8th, 9th and 11th

NOTE: College reps will be responsible for scheduling their own portfolio reviews, but we will market the portfolio reviews and encourage students to sign up for them as part of the event. Some options for how to schedule appointments are to make a google doc or use Calendly.

  • Sign Up for the DAY OF EVENT HERE (#3) (TAB IS PRESENTATION SET UP)

    • Think of 1-2, 20-30 Min Sessions you might want to present at the IHSAE Event day on Sunday, April 11th​

  • Complete the Google Sheet HERE (#4) to set up your Socio App Profile

    • Things that will be needed:

      • Calendly (or whatever you use) for Portfolio Reviews

      • Zoom link for open drop-in session/meetings for Sunday April 11th

      • Head Shot

      • Square Logo (everyone), Banner Logo (Diamond/Gold)

      • Trivia

      • Check that everything is accurate

      • Add additional rep names and emails

4. How are you going to help me connect with students?

  1. We will have both students and teachers register for the event

    1. For the students/teachers that signed off on sharing their emails, we will allow you to access that data before the event

  2. We will be encouraging teachers to talk to their students about the event and to even offer extra credit or asynchronous credit for attending your sessions                   

  3. We will be sending students/parents who attend Fall Mini Portfolio information about Spring Mini Portfolio Week. We are encouraging students to register, attend, prepare their portfolios, send it to colleges beforehand, research the school, and begin to build relationships with college reps.
