If you are presenting at Niles West Mini Portfolio Day:
We do not have the capabilities to present from your iPad. The day will run MUCH faster if you can add your presentation to our google folder instead of presenting off your personal computer.

  1. Please add your presentation to THIS GOOGLE FOLDER.

  2. Click on the 2022 folder to insert your presentation (note: your presentations from 2019 are in there as well, so if it's the same presentation, you can just move it over).

  3. Email Deanna Sortino once it's added. If it works great on her end, you'll get an email back saying you don't have to test technology the day of the event.

If you are only doing a Pre-Recorded Session:

  1.  Please add your pre-recorded session HERE

ARRIVAL:

  • Niles West High School, 5701 Oakton Ave., Skokie, IL 60077

  • Please arrive around 8:30am in order to make it through security on time

  • YOU CAN DROP OFF STUFF FOR YOUR TABLE AT 20B, THEN GO PARK IN LOT 3 OR 4

  • Please have a valid driver's license/State I.D. upon entry

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

ONCE YOU GET THERE:

  • Locate/setup your table for Portfolio Reviews by 9:00 am

    • National Art Honor Society kids will take you to your table and help you with your bags

  • Test presentations in room 1750 to confirm your presentation works with our technology (must test by 9:00am), unless Deanna emails you that your technology is good to go

  • Event will start promptly at 9:30am (Text or call Deanna Sortino, 708-655-2324 or John Zilewicz if you will be late, 708-612-1273).  There will be a Green Room in the space where we will have various breakfast snacks, water, coffee, and tea.

TO PREP FOR THE DAY:

  • StriveScan is being used for this event (Niles West Mini Portfolio Day). We strongly encourage you to sign-up for StriveScan so information can be captured in a speedy fashion. 

  • Please limit your presentations to 10 minutes.  You will have 5 minutes after your presentation to answer questions while the next presenter is setting up (so 15 minutes with the students total).  There will be a teacher giving you time warnings.  We do have a tight schedule, so please make sure you don’t go over your time.

  • You will receive a 10-minute warning before you are supposed to present in the classroom so you have enough time to finish any conversations with students and/or get presentation ready.

  • Please add your presentation to THIS FOLDER TO ENSURE IT WON'T HAVE TECHNOLOGY ISSUES.

PORTFOLIO REVIEWS:

  • Please limit your portfolio review with each student to about 5-10 minutes.  We will have stop watches for you if you would like to keep time.  There will be over 200 kids here today looking for feedback on their portfolios and we want to make sure you see as many kids as possible.

  • If you are using StriveScan, please scan each student to speed up the process.

  • You are allowed to collect information cards from the students at the event.

FOOD/BREAKS:

  • All breaks can be taken in the teacher’s lounge (there is washrooms, soda for purchase, snacks, etc).  We will also have a Pop Up Green Room for you in the Field House with water, coffee, and light breakfast snacks.

  • Lunch will be provided at 11:30am.  It will be catered by our culinary students.  They are aware of all dietary restrictions and are prepping food accordingly.   PLEASE NOTE: we are not a nut free or GF facility and there is a possibility of cross contamination with dairy, eggs, meat, nuts and flour.
